What this skill does
Phase 5 of the pipeline. This is the step that stops a keyword list from becoming a traffic play disguised as an SEO strategy. Every surviving keyword is tested against five commercial gates:
- Pipeline alignment - does ranking for this plausibly drive revenue?
- ICP match - is the searcher actually in the target market?
- Product fit - can the product genuinely serve the intent behind it?
- Client alignment - does it fit the client's stated priorities?
- Cannibalization - would it compete with an existing page rather than add?
Most gates are easy. The hard ones matter most - they're where traffic-for-traffic's-sake topics get cut.
Inputs
- Qualified keyword list - from serp-qualification
- Account intelligence - for ICP, product, and priority context
When it activates
- "filter these keywords for commercial fit"
- "which of these actually map to pipeline"
/business-fit-filter (after serp-qualification, or standalone)
Output
The keyword list reduced to commercially aligned survivors, with the gate reasoning for anything cut (especially cannibalization conflicts).
Tips
- Survivors go to Topic Shaping next
- Cannibalization is structural - flag it loudly; two pages splitting a cluster cap them both
- Pair with the account intelligence document so ICP and product-fit calls are grounded
