What this skill does
Phase 3 of the pipeline. Takes the opportunity angles and validates them against real search demand using Ahrefs - confirming that each business opportunity maps to actual search behavior.
For every opportunity cluster it pulls:
- Matching terms - keywords that directly express the angle
- Related terms - the wider cluster around it
- Volume + KD - demand and difficulty per keyword
- Top-ranking domain - who currently owns the SERP
The point isn't to let Ahrefs dictate strategy - it's to confirm demand exists behind a strategically chosen angle.
Inputs
- Opportunity inventory - from opportunity-extraction, or pasted in directly
Requirements
- Ahrefs MCP server connected (keywords explorer, volume, KD)
When it activates
- "validate these opportunities with keyword data"
- "get volume and difficulty for these angles"
/keyword-validation (after opportunity-extraction, or standalone)
Output
A keyword candidate pool - validated keywords grouped by opportunity, with volume, KD, and top-ranking domain, ready for SERP qualification.
Tips
- Feed the candidate pool into SERP Qualification next
- Volume confirms demand; the SERP decides whether it's winnable - don't stop here
- Keep keywords grouped by their parent opportunity so commercial intent stays attached
